Are you ready for the biggest environmental fight in decades? There's going to be a showdown in Richmond. Join us and we will help you understand the complex issues and give you the tools to communicate with lawmakers. Train with us for a 2012 victory!
Why Attend VCN's 2012 General Assembly Preview
There’s going to be a showdown in Richmond. Proponents of uranium mining have spent more than $1 million to convince lawmakers to lift the ban that has protected drinking water for 30 years. Conspiracy theorists within the Tea Party are out to dismantle Virginia’s smart growth laws. The governor has made the controversial practice of nutrient credit trading a centerpiece of his Chesapeake cleanup plans.
This training will prepare you to speak knowledgeably on these vital environmental issues. It is the perfect preparation for the Conservation Lobby Day in January. The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning how to impact environmental policy at the state level, so feel free to invite your friends. Registration includes meals and a copy of Our Common Agenda, Virginia Conservation Network’s 2012 briefing book.
What You Can Expect
The day begins with an overview of VCN's 2012 Conservation Briefing Book -- your go-to guide for conservation at the state capitol. Breakout sessions provide the opportunity to learn about in detail about four important conservation issues.
